From Sketch to Landmark: The Piaget Hong Kong Flagship’s Rippled Blue Ceramic Façade

The Piaget Hong Kong flagship store, located on Canton Road, features a striking façade crafted from custom blue ceramic tiles, forming a refined architectural curtain wall.

In designing the project, renowned studio Neri&Hu drew inspiration from the site’s unique location and the brand’s dedication to craftsmanship and innovation. Situated in a historically rich dockside district of Kowloon, the area has transformed into a vibrant hub of trade and culture. This interplay between history and the present is reflected in the choice of materials. Each tile was handmade in the legendary porcelain capital of Jingdezhen.

The façade is adorned with meticulously handcrafted ceramics, warm in texture and rich in artisanal character. The custom curved tiles are individually polished by skilled craftspeople, leaving behind subtle, water-like undulations. A signature deep “Piaget Blue” glaze is then applied, giving the surface an elegant, wave-like shimmer.

The design includes multiple exterior corners, requiring precision engineering to achieve seamless continuity. Specially developed three-dimensional corner tiles crafted in both 270° and 90° angles ensure perfect alignment. Each piece undergoes impact testing and full-scale installation simulations before leaving the workshop, guaranteeing the final presentation matches the designer’s vision.

Framed in bronze, the blue tiles are set like jewels within their structure. This carefully composed material palette weaves the brand’s DNA into its new home on Canton Road, reinforcing its role as a cultural landmark. Like an ancient city monument, it is a work of craftsmanship destined to be refined by time.
